Here's the first update from MusicYo for 2003:

HOLIDAY SALES -> The Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanza buying season was a success for them as expected. Like other online retailers sales were up over last year with about the same quarter to quarter up-curve as the previous year. Overall Steinberger sales were strong.

GR's -> Sales of the GR's has been less than expected. If anything they see much more interest in the GM line. We talked about the reasons for this a bit. I personally think the success and comparatively low price of the Spirit line is the biggest reason.

When the GR first came out it was the only low-end "affordably" priced model. The Spirits now hold that position at a vastly lower price point. That they share the R-Trem means there's even less differentiation between the two products. Honestly I think most guys won't pay $600+ more basically for an upgraded graphite neck and Duncan pickups, especially those with little knowledge of or experience playing 'bergers. MusicYo management did not made any long-term judgments about the model - they were only sharing general observations.

GM's -> Production is slowly still ramping up. They just can't seem to keep anything in stock for long. This is a pleasant surprise and they are happy to see the demand so brisk. They've posted some more GMxS's early this week and more w/ TT's are on the way. A large order of Gibson Nashville made GM bodies should be ready shortly.

The big development here is that they're officially announced plans for a "Newburgh bound" version. This will hopefully make an appearance as early as this quarter. It will sell with the Newburgh tag since that's what that style is now commonly known as.

TRAC TUNER KITS -> The 12 string kit now includes the bridge, older style top-load headpiece and a spacer. It's not pictured or described that way on the site but should be updated shortly. Any kits ordered from now on will include the spacer.

XQ's -> Still refining the production bodies but they are much closer to happening. Gibson Nashville will make all of these bodies too, so that will shorten production lead times. We could see them as early as 2 months from now, but I would expect more like 3-4 given past performance.

There's also one other big announcement that they'll be making shortly. I've agreed to stay mum on it for now, but we'll be the first to get the press release. I'll post it to the Yahoo!
Groups
site and here the moment we get it.
