Here's the end of the year update from MusicYo. . .

Not a whole lot of new projects to report. They're still trying to keep consistent stock on the GM's right now. They put up 10 on Tuesday evening (11/26); all but one (a white GM7TA) was sold by the following Monday morning. That's a quick sales pace.

Assembly is their bottleneck right now, especially since they've got limited factory staff. The fact that MY could sell more if they could just keep them in stock is not lost on them. They're actively looking into ways to improve operations, including adding the HAZ quick connector system to streamline assembly. Seems wiring the 7's has become especially cumbersome. This would be a nice after-purchase bonus for owners to be sure and we stessed to them what a great feature these quick connectors are.

12 STRING HEADPIECES -> This was an idea created by members of the Steinberger World Yahoo! Group.

Troy Fancil had the inspiration and Phil Langley (inventor of the D-Head detuning headpiece) milled them into existence. It's what I'd term a "spacer integrated" 12 string headpiece - the string spacers are milled into the headpiece itself. It's a really innovative idea and negates the need for special spacer pins inserted into the neck like before. Troy also tweaked the overall spacing a bit, minimizing the "string off the fingerboard" complaints we've heard before. These are high quality, precision CNC milled from a single block of aluminum. Good stuff.

Click here to see a pic. This was just a quick, low-res digital photo of a final prototype - before it was anodized. The ones they are selling are indeed your standard matching black finish.

MusicYo just got the first batch and they'll be offered up in the next few days. They won't be sold separately. A kit containing a TracTuner bridge and a new 12 headpiece will sell for $699 - same as the current price for the bridge alone. MusicYo will be dropping the price for just the bridge to $599. Troy also included some tips for installing them on GL's with a TT or ST. My guess is they will be putting some kind of more formal instructions together.

They also plan to commission an M/S style headpiece to be installed on new GM-12's sometime next year.

PARTS - > I've concluded the poll and will be sending our "wish list". Even if things move quickly I don't expect we'll have any product before the New Year. More news as it develops. Thanks to everyone for taking part in the poll on the Yahoo! Groups site - it helped a lot.

SPIRIT GT-PRO's -> Are back in stock. . .and selling rather briskly I might add.

Overall MusicYo sales have been good. Not quite as up as last year, but still respectable. They definitely see a big percentage of their sales this time of year, and expect to get bum-rushed the week of December 9th. I have a feeling that will be an indicator of how this overall holiday retail season will go.

That's it from MusicYo for 2002. We'll have more after the holidays.
