October's installment of 'Ask Ned' is now up. This month he covers two brief questions: where'd the instrument letters come from and what interesting developments does he currently see in the industry.

Things have still been on the calm side here. That's about to change with our latest MusicYo update:

GRAPHITES –> First batches of full production instruments are near. GR bodies are scheduled to be completed Monday the 7th and should be up for sale on their site within about a week. GM's will follow shortly thereafter. They have ordered the following number of units:
- 114 GR's
- 164 GM4's
- 186 GM7's
No breakdown on colors, but they should have a full production palette available. The S-Trem/TransTrem breakdown hasn't been decided yet for the GM's. They'll keep that flexible by building out a number of them, then filling in by replacing what's selling. This is one instance where Ned's decision to share the same bridge route definitely helps them. No lefties in this first bunch either for you southpaws out there.

They've also purchased full page ads in Guitar Player and Guitar World. I believe these will run in the December issues, which probably hit the stands late Oct. or Nov. They've also taken a few of the magazine's staff through the assembly plant for tours. Once they've actually got product in stock they'll be sending guitars out for official reviews. No sense in going to all that trouble if folks can't buy them yet.

12 STRING GM's –> MusicYo is still working on this one. Prototype headpieces have been produced. I've seen them - very ingenious. No need for those inserts in the neck as the headpiece incorporates the string spacers. They plan to produce new 12 strings as well as order several headpieces that fit the older necks. These they will package with a TracTuner for those wishing to swap out on older fixed bridge guitars. Or for the DIYers.

XQ BASSES –> Plans are to offer and they are working on it. At this point we won't see them until next year. These bodies will most likley be made by Gibson. They want to get the GM and GM production stabilized before tackling this new project.

SPIRITS –> New XP basses seem to be selling OK. They've also been out of GT-Pros for a while. The port problems on the West Coast aren't helping; they've got some shipments ready for shore but ships are being turned away. Once that issue is cleared up they should start getting replenishment as they've got a couple of shipments coming on those.

If we can get advance warning of any inventory hitting the MusicYo site we'll try to give everyone a heads up at the Yahoo! Groups forum.
