Things have been rather quiet in the world of Steinberger. At least we've got our September MusicYo update to share:

GRAPHITE GM's - MusicYo recently discovered about 40 unfinished NOS GM bodies that were mislabelled in a box from the trailer. These are already off to Gibson for finishing and should be available for sale in 2-3 weeks.

They also anticipate more new bodies from Gibson and Terada around that time. The hope is to have full, consistent stock by the end of September.

SPIRIT XP BASSES - The all-wood Spirit versions of the P series bass have have finally arrived. Both 4 and 5 string available in a variety of colors.

NEWBURGH BOUND BODIES - These are still being planned, but the priority now is getting the current offerings up and running first. It's confirmed that Gibson will be making these bodies as well.

HARDTAIL - The design is complete but we won't see any instruments with them until the new year. Appearance of a piezo option is not scheduled yet either.

12 STRING GM's - MusicYo has commissioned a small run of special 12 string headpieces and plans to assemble much of the remaining stock of TracTuners for sale on brand new GM's. They've not received these headpieces yet, so the timetable is unknown. Chances are good that once this stock is gone no new TracTuners will be made.

XQ BASSES - Protoypes and refining of the bodies is still under way. Though Gibson at the end of production offered a figured maple on alder option, there are no plans to bring that back. These will be solid swamp ash and feature the same general color choices as before. Both 4 and wide 5 string versions will be available. Right now EMG and Bartolini pickups are being considered, paired with active electronics from HAZ Labs.

SERIAL #'s - Slowly but surely we're making headway. We're consulting with trained web programmers from the Yahoo! Groups site, and MusicYo has officially agreed to host the database. The laborious task of entering all of the serial numbers will take some time so your patience is appreciated. We'll be posting regular updates as we go along.

Debbie Orsland from Gibson also was able to retrieve most of the Nashville serial # info before the older computer systems holding them were decommissioned. She also identified many of the custom orders to more precisely determine models and options. Her assistance in this process has been crucial and is much appreciated.

More news as it arrives. . .
